I agree with the spirit of this post, because Mayor Pete is a mild-mannered, well-spoken Hoosier who was raised Catholic in Indiana, just like I was. I disagree due to the fact that advocating for modern Democrat policy requires the saying of incredibly stupid shit.
Hereās video of Mayor Pete insisting that the door needs to remain open for public school educators to explain adult sexual behaviors to very young children. Making the argument he does requires the deliberate misrepresentation of the Parental Rights in Education Bill. It is dishonest from the get-go, as are most modern leftist narratives. Thatās why it is commonly known as the "Donāt Say Gay Bill, even though nothing like that is even in the bill. Even more dramatic mental gymnastics are required to justify the notion that these same young children ought to be taught that they might be, can be, and even should be members of the opposite sex.
It is deeply misguided madness at best and deeply malicious evil at worst.
Really, Mayor Pete? It is dangerous to NOT explain adult sexual behaviors to K-3 children? Please, keep talking. Every parent in the country will be listening if heās ever in a debate as the Democratic candidate for President of the USA.
Mayor Pete is, indeed, a slick talker. I realize that appeals to a lot of people, but Iām the kind of person who appreciates a straight talker, not ridiculous mental gymnastics or even eloquent language used to dodge simple questions. Here he is in his current capacity as the Transportation Secretary completely dodging a very straightforward question about why Tesla wasnāt invited to the Electric Vehicle event put on by the White House.
Thatās sort of like having an event to promote Strongman in America and not inviting Brian Shaw. That deserves an explanation.

A big part of why I donāt like him is that I can admire his ability to do the things necessary to advance the narrative. If I put myself in a position to sincerely argue for modern Democrat governance, Iād probably do it in a way similar to Mayor Pete, even though Iām no Mayor Pete myself.
He is a very shrewd man whos is much better-spoken than I am, not to mention better-looking and probably better-smelling too. Thatās why heās got a fat government job that makes him set for life and I am stuck being a modestly-paid person who produces value for society with my work.

I donāt intend to argue or belittle you. But I am curious about just what kind of a leftist are you considering the left appears to be filled with contradiction and constantly changing and expanding their list of grievances and theories. Like, are you an old-school communist or socialist, or are you a modern leftist who enjoys the support of mega corporations who actually engage in much exploitation and mistreatment of humanity all over the world while at the same time having sympathy for and preoccupied with aggrieved groups?
Personally Iām a mix. I donāt believe in law-of-the-jungle/might-makes-right economics, nor am I all for āmuh GDPā and āproductivityā at the expense of social stability and safety. But Iām also not a Commie.

I made the assumption that we were talking about legal rights, since this is a political forum. My mistake. Going forward, you may assume that anytime I bring up rights, I am specifically referring to rights in the United States, as defined by our laws and our constitution.
What did he say in the video (not things you assume about his position, but actual words he said) that you disagree with here, specifically? He didnāt say anything about āsexual behaviorsā, he brought up the example of being able to talk about oneās family in class. And he expressed a concern that this particular bill would prohibit children with gay parents from doing so, if a teacher chose to interpret the law as such. Also, he didnāt refer to the bill as the ādonāt say gayā bill, the interviewer did. Granted, I wouldnāt have a problem if he had called it that, because for communication purposes, it would suffice to do so (we all know the bill under this name, regardless of what side youāre on, if you say it, we know what youāre talking about).
Again, youāre presenting an argument that OTHER people are making, and perhaps Pete has somewhere else, but not in the evidence you presented.
I have yet to meet a gay man who doesnāt like titties. If this is indeed true about Pete, Iām out on him too. Iāll have to do some research here.

Yes. Iāve actually met or heard about a good number of people who live decent lives without working. Iām talking food, healthcare, apartment, and clothing without working for years! In some states one doesnāt have to work if not wanting to and be just fine.

To begin with, he didnāt correct the interviewer who called it āDonāt Say Gayā. He went along with that premise and then added to the dishonesty by raising concerns about a hypothetical situation that the bill doesnāt even address. A child can say something about his two dads, and the teacher is free to acknowledge that child and then get along with the business of educating the K-3 children in important topics.

Teacher: Yes, Johnny has two dads. Now, please open your math textbooks to page 14. Today weāre learning about multiplication tables.
What the teacher is not free to do is to use the hypothetical child mentioning his two dads as a launching point for a lesson about adult sexual relationships, what it means to be gay or an exploration of gender identity. The law instead forces them to get on with the business of teaching things like multiplication tables and other useful information that EVERYONE wants the teachers to impart to the children. The āDonāt Say Gayā bill is rather simple and tolerant. It isnāt a large bill , but the relevant portion to this situation statesā¦

To circle back to Mayor Pete, he is stating in plain English the bill is dangerous. Let me say that again, he is saying that it is DANGEROUS to put the limits that the bill does on what educators can teach. It is therefore reasonable to assume that he believes it is important to have classroom discussions about sexual orientation and gender identity in grades K-3. This also means he believes tax money should be used for this sort of instruction and it also means he believes it is important enough to use valuable education opportunities to discuss/teach this topic at the expense of other topics.
Heās expressed clear support for these notions in the past, and heās also a Cabinet Member of a Presidential Administration that has been rather clear in their belief that young children ought to be taught that they might be, can be, and even should be members of the opposite sex. There is really no ambiguity from the Biden Administration. They are all-in on so-called āgender affirming careā for children. Mayor Pete isnāt some low-level analyst, heās holding a cabinet level position in this administration.
