09-10 Wrestling Season

Well, our football team lost in the playoffs Friday unfortunately. This does, however, mean that it is now time for wrestling season. Although it officially began, I will be starting Wednesday. I will be going to the 189lb weight class. At this moment I weight ~197lbs. Our first Dual is on Dec. 3.

I will mainly be using the thread as a log for how I do. Note, this is only my second year wrestling, but luckily, I have a great coach. So, feel free to ask questions. It’s been since the beginning of June since I last wrestled, so I am glad season has finally started again.

Awesome man, good luck this season! Whereabouts in CO are you at? I’m up in Greeley.

My friend is redshirting this season, Va Tech Heavyweight wrestler from Broomfield, CO. He went 3-2 at NCAA’s last year, 1 pt. short of All-American. He’s doing the redshirt to get heavier and stronger, though he’s already huge. The hwt from Duke was 2nd last year at nationals and still has this year left.

A lot of the guys on the Tech team have national rankings, though looked shakey opening tri-meet with Kent State and Chattanooga. Good luck!

I’m in the south east part of Aurora, right near Centennial. I go to Grandview.

Musselquest: those NCAA tournaments are crazy, getting that close is great for your friend still.

Good luck, I used to wrestle 189. How tall are you? Top, bottom or neutral? Go-to move?

Any interesting things about your style? Keep us updated!

I am roughly 5’10.5". I am bottom heavy though: my legs are big compared to my upper body.

I can control the person in neutral if I can keep tied up with them, but I don’t like to do it for long. On top, I don’t have to many moves, but I try to the the person down and put he half or hammer lock in. However, I will start using my legs a lot more when I am on top and my opponent is on his stomach. Bottom, all I do is try to escape as fast as possible. I am not a very technical wrestler, so the only real reversal I have is the Peterson.

Go-to moves: double leg, power half, hammer lock, cross face into a butcher.

Cool thread.

good luck and keep us posted.

I am not going to lie. I have never heard of the fairfax and michigan. Maybe I have seen them and use another name, but what are they?

I’m going to wrestle 171. I have work to do, that weight class is up for anyone to grab. I have the strength I easily overpower everyone at that weight, but i’m not as explosive as i’d like. But I seriously need to bring up my conditioning, I gas out so fast, it’s my biggest weakness.

Well, at the beginning of the season, that is everyone’s biggest problem, so if your coach does condition you a lot, like our coach does, it won’t be your weakness.

I go 152 over in NY… going for a section title this year…will be my 4th year…as for favorite moves Low single, and im a leg rider…Spladel or banana split for others=]

Update:

I am officially varsity now. We had wrestle-offs today, and I won against both people. Tomorrow is a scrimmage up in Broomfield. Mostly just varsity.

My first dual is tomorrow. The school we are going up against hasn’t had a consistent team for a while, so I don’t know if I am going to have a match. However, for now, I am assuming I do.

Tear it up.

Well, I pinned the kid in the second period. Basically, he tried to turn me onto my back, but I tried to circle out of his grip and ended up getting him on his back, so I just got a head and arm and held on for my life. I am quite happy.

Hell yeah!!!

nice work.

shit, how’d i miss this thread…good work man. personally i think every male in high school should have to wrestle or enlist in the military afterwards. make some fucking men instead of these new age mutherfuckers i see wandering around in women’s jeans

Thanks for the support everyone.

I had a dual tournament last night and went 3-2. So now, my overall record is 4-2.

Awesome work man, keep it up!!! And congrats on making it on the varsity squad. Approximately how many matches will you wrestle this season?
